about

This EP was inspired by a chapter of Ian Urbina's book The Outlaw Ocean on oil drilling and the beauty of the deepest, darkest part of the ocean - the ocean floor.

Having worked at Greenpeace for nearly eight years, I witnessed firsthand the threats our planet is facing and experienced the uphill battle to protect it. The rising threat of the climate crisis as well as the urgency to preserve precious ecosystems is something very close to home for me, and as such I felt particularly drawn to “The Next Frontier.” The David and Goliath story of oil companies pushing the limits on frontiers such as the Arctic, versus activist groups like Greenpeace, who stand up to oil giants in order to protect the earth, is one that inspires me and my music.

I believe that music has the ability to be a vessel for change, which is what I hope to accomplish through my tracks. The songs sound mysterious and intentionally reverberate in a listener’s ear to convey some of the dualities of the sea — the ominous threat of oil drilling along with the hope brought by brave activists, and the captivating beauty, but dark mystery of the ocean deep.
